Why Is My Car Overheating and What Can I Do?

By, 2020-05-26

During summer season, we see more problems in cars, specifically, problems related to the engine heating up. The car consists of an integrated system that needs constant maintenance and treatment, hence you should look after all the components in your car.

Reasons for a high car temperature

When any of the car parts is exposed to a specific defect, the temperature increases in the system as a whole, in addition to a group of other reasons, the most prominent of which are the following:

1. Radiator malfunction: the result of dirt, clogging, or even damage to some of its parts, most notably its covering. And there are many breakdowns of the radiator in Qatar due to waves of dust.

2. Fault in water pipes: This defect usually results from heat or accident leading to cracking, and thus corrosion and water leaking through it and its inability to reach the required amount to the engine.

3. A specific defect in the thermostat: it works in an irregular manner; As a result of rust or dirt in the heat coil, specifically its inability to open when it reaches a temperature.

4. Low water pump pressure: After the radiator cap opens and the car starts, this defect is usually detected.

5. Damage or weakness of the face of the engine head: due to the over heating of this part, especially when the car is running at a high temperature.

6. Machine head damage: noticing after starting the car and opening the cover of the radiator.

7. Failure of the fan: that its connections are improper in terms of wires and fuses, or a defect in the fan clutch or the presence of a break or a defect in one of its blades and thus the inability of the fan to work leads to a rise in the temperature of the car as a whole.

8. An imbalance in the pullovers: such as the presence of an emery in it or an imbalance in its weight.

9. Engine oil: For example, if it is burning, or using it to cover long distances, thus reducing its viscosity and increasing the system temperature.

How to avoid overheating of you car?

One of the most simple ways to avoid overheating of the car is the following:

  1. Carry out regular maintenance of all parts of the car and ensure the safety of all its metal channels and connections.
  2. Always check the water of the radiator and top up if required.
  3. Permanent inspection of engine oil, quantity and suitability, as it directly affects engine efficiency.
  4. Permanent monitoring of the car temperature indicator while driving, so that the indicator does not point above the center of the scale, and ensure that it gives a correct reading.
